     It is incumbent on us as educators to do more than just disseminate information to our students.
     We must establish a culture called “school”. Schools must provide a social education as well as an academic education. Social skill sets, will be scripted and taught. Multiple opportunities must be provided for rehearsal of these skill sets. We must constantly reinforce the appropriate use of these social skills. Our ultimate goal is to have these skills generalized to other venues in a student’s life.

     Angela teaches in the Graduate Programs in Special Education at Queens College.  Angela holds certification as a school psychologist, special education teacher, and behavior analyst. In addition to her role at the university, Angela has been working with children on the autism spectrum coordinating home-based and center-based individualized programs for ten years. She is in the process of completing her  Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at The Graduate Center. Angela continues to work directly with children with Autism in home-based programs and to coordinate inclusion programs for children with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities.
